Size: Newborn
Materials: double knit yarn
Needles: 3.75 and 4mm
Using 3.75 needles cast on 63 stitches
Row 1: k4, p1 *k1, p1 repeat from * to last 4 stitches, k 4
Row 2: k5, * p1 k1 repeat from * to last 5 stitches, k5
Repeat these two rows three more times
Change to 4mm needles
1st row: (right side) knit 4, p1*k1,p1; repeat from * to last 4 stitches, knit 4
2nd row: k5, * p1,k1; rep from * to last 4 stitches, knit 4
3rd row: knit 4, purl to last 4 stitches, knit 4
4th row knit
Continue with the 4 row pattern until work measures 11cm
Shape Crown
Row 1: *k6, k2tog* repeat to last 7 stitches, knit 7
Row 2 and all alt rows - purl
Row 3: *k5, k2tog* repeat to end
Row 5: *k4, k2tog* repeat to end
Row 7: *k3, k2tog* repeat to end
Row 9: *k2, k2tog* repeat to last 3 stitches, K3
Row 11: *k1, k2tog* repeat to end
Row 13: *k2tog* repeat to end
cut yarn long enough to thread through the remaining stitches and sew up side seam. from the top down to the end of the knitted edge
add ribbon to tie

i knitted this pattern last evening, and it is adorable. the pattern was accurate, too. there is so much more detail in the finished product than can be seen on the photo. i will knit many more. thank you!
