Chunky yarn

Small amount of tinsel or eyelash yarn

Button 

Size 5.5 mm needles

Cast on 15  stitches with eyelash or tinsel yarn

Knit 3 rows in 

Change to chunky yarn

Row 1: knit 

Row 2 : purl 3, knit 3 to end

Row 3: knit 6, yfd k2 tog, knit 7 (Button hole row)

Row 4: purl 3 knit 3 to end

Row 5 knit

Row 6 : knit 3, purl 3 to end

Row 7: knit

Row 8: knit 4, purl 4 to end 

Patten rows

Row 1: knit 

Row 2 : purl 3, knit 3 to end

Row 3: knit

Row 4: purl 3, knit 3 to end

Row 5 knit

Row 6 : knit 3, purl 3 to end

Row 7: knit

Row 8: knit 3, purl 3 to end 

Repeat the 8  patten rows  3  times

Change to tinsel yarn

Knit 3 rows

Cast off

Sew sides, and sew on button on inside of purse opposite the button hole

Child

Cast on 24 stitches 

Knit 2 rows

Next row: knit 2 tog across row (12stitches)

Row 1:  knit 

Row 2: purl 

Repeat for 6 cms

Next row: knit 2 tog across row

Next row: 2 tog across row

Cut yarn leaving enough to thread through remaining stitches and join seam

Add face

Sew seam

Adult

Cast on 28 stitches 

Knit 2 rows

Next row: knit 2 tog across row 

Row 1:  knit 

Row 2: purl 

Repeat for 7 cms

Next row: knit 2 tog across row (14 stitches)

Next row: 2 tog across row, knit 1

Cut yarn leaving enough to thread through remaining stitches and join seam

Add face

Sew seam

4mm Needles

In main colour 

Cast on 30 stitches

Row 1: * knit 4, purl 1 repeat from * to end

Row 2: knit

Repeat these 2 rows 3 times in total

Join in contrast

Next 2 rows: knit 

Repeat for 12 cms

When changing colour do at start  row on right side

Cast off

Sew bottom and side

Cast off

Scrappy Bookmarks Holder

Oddments and scraps of Dk yarn and or fancy yarns 

4 mm needles

Cut some simple bookmakers from card measuring approx 15x4.5 cms,

Knitted in garter stitch throughout (every row knit)

When changing colour do at start of row on right side

cast on 14 stitches

Row 1: knit

Repeat for 28 cms

Cast off

Fold in half, leaving the back part slightly longer and using contrast yarn sew running stitches down first seam on right side .  Add a button or flower to front of holder then sew running stitches down other side to close folder.

Scrappy Mini Gift Bag

Oddments and scraps of Dk yarn and or fancy yarns 

4 mm needles

Ribbon if required 

Alternative pattern , replace purl rows with a knit row

When changing colour do at start of row on knit side, then on purl side knit this row

cast on 20, (24, 28, 32) stitches

Knit 4 rows

Row 1: knit

Row 2 knit 2, purl to last two stitches, purl 2

Repeat for 25 cms or longer for a bigger bag

Knit 4 rows

Cast off

Fold in half, and using contrast yarn sew running stitches down first seam at the inner sides of the 2 knit stitch border on front side .  Add a button or flower to front of bag then sew running stitches down other side. 

Using yarn double work running stitches around top of bag 4 rows down from opening.  This creates the draw string  to close bag. Knot both ends
