Oddments in dk yarn

Small amount of toy stuffing

Cast on 18 stitches for basket

Knit 18 rows in garter stitch (every row knit)

Change to cat colour

Knit in stocking stitch (1 row knit, 1 row purl) for 11 cms

Change back to basket colour 

Knit 18 rows in garter stitch 

Cast off

Add face before sewing side seams

Sew side seams

Stuff lightly

Sew across top corners to make ears

Sew up bottom seam

 4 mm needles

Oddments in dk yarn

Small amount of toy stuffing

Cast on 21 stitches 

Rows 1  Knit (right side)

Row 2: Purl to end

Row 3: knit 

Row 4:  Purl 1, *Knit 2, purl 1* repeat from * to end

These 4 rows form the pattern.

Knit  these 4 rows 5 times 

Knit 2 rows in garter stitch 

Change to skin colour

Work 6 rows in stocking stitch

Change to hat colour 

Knit 2 rows

Work 6 rows in stocking stitch

Knit 1, knit 2 together across row

Sew up

Cut off yarn leaving a length to thread through stitches. Pull to close and finish off 

Fold work right side inside and sew up back seam. Turn work to right side outside.

Stuff  head neck, then sew small stitches around neck and pull slightly. Continue stuffing the body

Sew across bottom

Hat (Optional)

Cast on 24 stitches

Knit 2 rows

Knit 6 rows in stocking stitch

Next row: knit 2 tog across row

Cut off yarn leaving a length to thread through stitches. Pull to close and finish off

Make 2  pieces

Row 2: knit 3, Purl to last 3 stitches, knit 3

Row 3: knit 

Row 4:  knit 3, Purl 1, *Knit 2, purl 1* repeat from * to * to last 3 stitches,  knit 3

These 4 rows form the pattern.

Knit  these 4 rows 5 times 

Next 2 rows

Knit 
Purl

Knit 4 rows in garter stitch

Cast off

Sew up bottom and side seams, fill with dried lavender, add ribbon loop, sew up top seam

Embellish with beads etc optional
