Children’s Fingers Free Mitts

shorter and loose fitting version

Approx 20 grams Dk yarn

3.75 and 4 mm needles

Small, medium and large 

with 3.75 needles 

Cast on 36 stitches (40, 44)

Row 1: knit 2, purl 2 repeat to end

Row 2: purl 2,  knit 2, repeat to end

Work 6 rows in total

Change to 4 mm needles

Knit 22 (26, 30) rows  in garter stitch (every row knit) 

Change to 3.75 needles

Row 1: knit 2, purl 2 repeat to end

Row 2: purl 2, knit 2, repeat to end

Work 4 rows in total

Cast off

Sew sides from bottom to 1 cm above the start of the knit rows, leave a gap of about 4 cm for thumb and sew the rest of seam

3.75 needles

Wooden clothes peg 

Pipe cleaner

Small bobble for hat

Gems for buttons

Card to make book

Knitted in garter stitch throughout

Coat

Start at bottom 

Cast on 8 stitches

Knit for 7 cms

Cast on 4 stitches at start of next 2 rows

Knit  2 rows

Knit 6 stitches, cast off 4 stitches, knit 6 stitches

Knit 6 stitches, cast on 4 stitches, knit to end

Knit 2 rows

Cast off 4 stitches at start of next 2 rows

Knit for 7 cms

Cast off fit on peg and sew seams 

Add the embellishments

Make a book from card, attach with glue 

Hat

Cast on 9 stitches

Knit 5 rows

Next row: knit 2 tog across, knit 1

Cut yarn leave enough to thread through stitches and secure and sew seam
