Christmastime Baby Mittens


  Birth - 3 months
 
Make two mittens
Approx 5 g each of yarn in red and white Dk 
3.75/mm needles
4 mm needles
With  white and 3.75 cast on 24 stitches 
Knit 8 rows in rib increase one stitch at beginning of row 8

Change to 4 mm needles and red yarn
Knit 14 rows in stocking stitch (1 row knit, 1 row purl)

Change to white yarn
Knit 6 rows in garter stitch (every row knit)

Next Row:  K1, *K2tog, k1, repeat from * to end
Next row: knit 
Next Row: k1, *K2tog to end
Cut yarn, leave enough yarn to thread through remaining stitches, pull gently to close and to stitch seam

Approx 10 grams Dk yarn
2 buttons

Cast on 20 stitches  

Knit 3 rows 

1st row: knit to end
2nd row: knit 1 purl to last stitch,  knit 1
3rd row: knit 1, purl to last stitch, knit 1 
4th row knit to end

Continue with the 4 row pattern 
 20 times

Next row: knit 9, yfd knit 2 together, knit to last   9 stitches, knit 9

Knit 3 rows

Cast off

Fold one end over to make Pocket

Add button

Yuletide Fingerless Mitts




Approx 10g main colour, small amount white Dk  yarn
size 3.75 and 4 mm needles
Size small: to fit 3-5 year old 
Circumference 13 cm 
approx 12 cm from wrist

Cast on 29 stitches with 3.75 needles and white yarn 
Knit 5 rows

Change to 4 mm needles and green or red yarn
*  Row 1: knit to end
   Row 2: purl to end
   Row 3: knit to end
   Row 4: purl to end
   Knit  4 rows* 
Continue with 8 row patten 2 jmore times
Knit rows 1 - 4 

Change to white yarn 
Knit 4 rows

Cast off

Sew up side seam leaving a gap for the thumb

Garter stitch for 3 cm

Next row: decrease 4 stitches evenly across the row

Knit 4 rows

Cast on 3 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows (23 stitches)

Knit 5 rows

Cast off

Jumper


Sew shoulder and side seams

Knit 2 pieces

Cast on 12 stitches
Garter stitch for 3cm

Cast on 3 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows

Knit 5 rows cast off


Sew shoulder and side seams

Shrug
Shrug for your Barbie doll or similar doll

4mm needles

oddments of double knitting yarn

Make two the same

cast on 11 stitches

knit  every row  (garter stitch) for 17 cm

cast off


to make up

lay the two pieces as above and sew up part of the back

catch each side below the seams with a couple of stitches

Cast on 40 stitches
Knit 2 rows
Next row purl

Continue in stocking stitch. ( one row knit, one row purl) for 7 cms

Next row : k1, k2tog  to last stitch, k1 (21 stitches)

Continue in stocking stitch till work measures 14 cm

Cast off

Sew up side seam

Double knit yarn

Needles 3.75 cm

Skirt
Cast on 60 st and knit 2 rows
Next row: purl
Starting with a knit roll continue in stock stitch until work measures 4 cm

Next row k3 tog across row (20) stitches

Next row: purl
Next 3 rows: knit

Cast off

Sew up side seam


Jerkin

Cast on 26 stitches
K 3 rows
Purl next row
Continue in  in st st until work measures 3 cm

Next row (right side) knit 6 stitches and turn for armholes
Purl
St st next 3 rows
Next row : k2 tog, in to end
Next row: Purl
Cast off

Rejoin yarn and knit next 14 stitches
Turn and purl next row
Continue in st st for 7 rows
Cast off

Rejoin yarn to remaining 6 stitches and knit to end
Purl next row
Continue in st st for 5 rows
Next row p 2 tog (wrong side) p to end
Next row: Knit
Next row : Purl

Cast off

Sew shoulder seams

Make up
Join short end to long side on both pieces to form a 'v'


Hat

Cast on 20 stitches
 Knit every row till work measures 4 cm

Next row k2 tog to end of row

Leave a length of yarn to thread through the remaining stitches, sew side seam

Needles: 3.25.  and 4mm

Using 3.25 needles and brown yarn cast  on 64 stitches

Row 1: k1, p1 to end
Row 2: p1, k1 to end. (moss stitch)

Repeat these two rows another three times

Change to 4mm needles and brown  yarn

Work in stocking stitch one row knit, one row purl
Continue until work measures  6cm

Join in white yarn and continue to work measures 11 cm

Join in green wool

Shape Crown
Row 1: *k6, k2tog* repeat to end (56 st.)
Row 2 and all alt rows - purl 
Row 3: *k5, k2tog* repeat to end (48 st.)
Row 5: *k4, k2tog* repeat to end (40 st.)
Row 7: *k3, k2tog* repeat to end (32 st.)
Row 9:  *k2, k2tog* repeat to end (24 st.)

Row 1: *k6, k2tog* repeat to end (56 st.)
Row 2 and all alt rows - purl 
Row 3: *k5, k2tog* repeat to end (48 st.)
Row 5: *k4, k2tog* repeat to end (40 st.)
Row 7: *k3, k2tog* repeat to end (32 st.)
Row 9:  *k2, k2tog* repeat to end (24 st.)

Change to 4mm needles and red yarn

Needles: 4mm

Cast on 64 stitches
Row 1: k1 to end
Row 2: p1 to end

Repeat these two rows another one more time

next row: s1, * yfd k2tog rep from * to last stitch, k1 (picot edge row)

Next row : purl

Next row : work in stocking stitch one row knit, one row purl

Continue in stocking stitch until work measures  11cm ending with a purl row

Shape Crown
Row 1: *k6, k2tog* repeat to end (56 st.)
Row 2 and all alt rows - purl 
Row 3: *k5, k2tog* repeat to end (48 st.)
Row 5: *k4, k2tog* repeat to end (40 st.)
Row 7: *k3, k2tog* repeat to end (32 st.)
Row 9:  *k2, k2tog* repeat to end (24 st.)
Row 11: *k1, k2tog* repeat to end (16st.)
Row 13: *k2tog* repeat to end (8 st.)

cut yarn long enough to thread through the remaining stitches and secure.
Fold up the hem to form the picot edge and stitch to secure.
Sew side seam.

Materials: double knit yarn in two colours
Needles: 3.25.  and 4mm

Cast on 64 stitches With first colour
Row 1: k2, p2 to end
Row 2:  p2, k2 to end

Repeat these two rows another three times

Change to 4mm needles and second colour yarn

Work in stocking stitch one row knit, one row purl
Continue until work measures 8cm ending with a knit row

Change to first colour and knit 2 rows (garter stitch)

Rejoin second colour and continue in  stocking stitch until work measures  11cm


Shape Crown
Row 1: *k6, k2tog* repeat to end (56 st.)
Row 2 and all alt rows - purl 
Row 3: *k5, k2tog* repeat to end (48 st.)
Row 5: *k4, k2tog* repeat to end (40 st.)

Marshmallow Baby Hat



Marshmallow Baby Hat
To fit  approx. 3 months

Two colours

Materials
For the rib use double knit yarn and the top half use fancy yarns of double knit thickness 
Note: you could use double knit in two colours


using  3.25 mm needles and double knit cast on 69 stitches

1st row: k2, p2 to last stitch k1
2 nd row: s1, k2, p2 to end

This forms the rib

Continue in rib for another six rows


Change to 4mm needles and second yarn

Next row work in stocking stitch pattern (1 row plain, 1 row purl)
until work measures 11cms


Shape crown

1st row: k3  *k2 tog, k4 to end
2nd and all alt rows : purl
3rd row: k2 * k2 tog k3 to last stitch, k1
5th row: k1, *k2tog, k2 to last 2 stitches k2tog
7th row: k2 tog, k1 to end of row
9th row: k2 tog across row, k last stitch.


Break off enough yarn to thread through purl wise the 12 stitches left on needle and secure.
Join seam.

Glitzy Chic Bag


Double knit yarn

Needles size 4 mm

Cast on 30 stitches in a fluffy wool

First row knit one, purl one rib to end
Second row purl on, knit one to end
Knit 4 more rows in rib

Row 6  knit across all stitches
Row 7  purl across all stitches

Continue in stocking stitch until work measures 14 cm from rib

Knit 3 rows garter stitch for gusset

Next row knit across all stitches
Next row purl across all stitches

Continue in stocking stitch till work measure 14 cm from the garter stitch gusset

Change to fluffy wool and work 5 rows in rib as before

Cast off


Handle
Cast on 5 stitches

Knit every row (garter stitch) until required length

Cast off and attach handle to bag


Add a fluffy flower if required

Knit the next three rows

Cast off

Sew up side seam leaving a gap for thumb
