40 grams Dk yarn

Size 4 mm needles

button, safety pin

 

Cast on 26 stitches 

Pattern rows

Row 1: knit

Row 2; knit

Row 3: k1, p1 repeat to end

Row 4: k1, p1 repeat to end

Repeat the 4 rows  for 80cm or required length

 Cast off

Brooch

Cast on 48 stitches,

K1, p 1 to end

Repeat 1 more time

Next row; k 2 tog across row,

Next row: k 2 tog across row, to last stitch, knit 1

 

Break off yarn leave a length to thread through remaining stitches and pull right.  Add button and safety pin

Oddments of Dk yarn used with 2 strands

Row 1: knit

 

Repeat row for 23 cm

 

Cast off

 

Sew side seams

 

Thread 2 strands of yarn 4 rows down from top and pull drawstring , tie knots at each end

Add flower to decorate

You will need a  toilet roll tube

 

Cast on 32 stitches

Knit 4 rows in garter stitch

 

Pattern rows

Row 1: knit

Row 2: purl

Row 3: k1, p1 repeat to end

Row 4: k1, p1 repeat to end

 

Repeat these 4 rows 6 times or to bottom of tube

Knit 4 rows in garter stitch

Next row: knit 2 tog across row

Knit 1 row

Next row: knit 2 tog across row

Cut yarn leave a length to thread through remaining stitches, pull tight and sew seam
