Cover

Cast on 20 stitches

Knit 3 rows

Next row (button hole row) knit 9, yarn forward, knit 2 together, knit to end

Next rows

Row 1: k1, p1 repeat to end

Row 2: k1, p1 repeat to end

Continue with pattern rows

Pattern rows

Row 1: knit

Row 2; knit

Row 3: k1, p1 repeat to end

Row 4: k1, p1 repeat to end

 

Repeat the 4 rows  18 times  ending with rows 3 and 4

Knit 4 rows

Cast off

Weave in loose ends

Inside

Cast on 16 stitches in contrast

Knit every row  for 12.5 cm

Cast off

To make up

Fold case to find centre and find centre of the inside, use the contrast yarn double and leave a length of yarn. Start on fold on outer layer, stitch through both layers and bring needle through to inside, take needle out again. Cut yarn leaving a length so that it can be joined and knotted  with the other bit. Tie knots in bath ends

Add button to the inside of outer case.

Oddments of dk yrn

4 mm needles

5 cm tall Wooden peg

Measures about 6 cms high

Cast on 10 stitches

Pattern  rows

Row 1: knit

Row 2; knit

Row 3: k1, p1 repeat to end

Row 4: k1, p1 repeat to end

Knit these 4 rows 8 times

Cast off 

Bring bottom edge up last set of pattern rows and knit to 2 knit  rows 

Sew both seams

Peg baby hat

Cast on 10 stitches

Knit 4 rows

Next row knit 2 tog-across row

Break off yarn and leaving a short length to thread through stitches and sew seam

Add face

Small amount of  dk yarn

4 mm needles

Cast on 16 stitches leaving a length of yarn to sew seam

Knit 9 rows, 

Next row : knit 2 together twice evenly across the row

Knit 3 rows

Next row: k 4 cast on 3 stitches, k6 cast on 3 stitches, k4

Knit 1 row

Next row: knit 8 , knit 2 tog twice, knit 8

Knit 1 row

Cast off

Sew back seam ending a few rows from the top for easy access

Eyelash or small amount of  fancy yarn

5 mm needles

Button

Ribbon

Knitted in knit stitches throughout

Cast on 18 stitches in fancy or eyelash yarn

Knit 4 rows

Change to dk and knit 3 rows

Next row (button hole row) knit 8, yarn forward, knit2 tog, knit to end 

Continue knit rows until 22 cms

Cast off

To make up.

Fold up from the cast off row to make a pocket, the top end becomes the flap

Sew on button before sewing sides

Attach the ribbon making a look by sandwiching it in the right seam

30 gms of dk in 2 colours knitted together 

Eyelash or small amount of  fancy yarn

5 mm needles

Button

Ribbon

2 small metal rings 

Knitted in knit stitches throughout

Cast on 18 stitches in fancy or eyelash yarn

Knit 4 rows

Change to dk and knit 3 rows

Next row (button hole row) knit 8, yarn forward, knit2 tog, knit to end 

Next and every row:  knit 2, knit into front and back of next stitch, knit to end

Repeat until 36 stitches on needle

Knit 2 rows

Next rows

Knit 2, *knit 1, slip 1, p s s o, repeat from * to end

Continue until 18 stitches remain 

Knit 4 rows

Change to fancy yarn

Knit 4 rows

To make up.

Sew button in place on the inside of bag

Sew sides

Attach ring either side and thread the ribbon through and tie a knot to hold it in place
