Cast on with 40 stitches with 4 mm needles

Knit 3 rows 

Row 1 : knit

Row 2: purl 

Row 3:  * P1, y f d, s1 purlways,  knit into back of next stitch, repeat from  *  to last 1 stitches,  p1, 

Row 4: As row 2

Knit  4 row pattern 4 times 

Next row: knit 1 *knit 2 tog across row to last stitch, knit 1 (21 stitches)

Knit 4 rows in k1, p1 rib

Cast off

Sew back seam on right side

Design 2

Cast on 23 stitches with 4 mm needles

Knit 2 rows

1st Row (right side): Knit

2nd Row: Purl

3rd Row: *K1, p1; repeat from * to last stitch, knit 1

4th Row: Purl

Knit  4 row pattern 4 times ( purl 2 tog and both ends of row before knitting rib)

Knit 4 rows in k1, p1 rib

Cast off

 approx 12 cm from wrist

About 15 gms Dk yarn 
3.75 and 4 mm 

Cast on 29 stitches using  3.75 needles

Knit 5 rows in k1, p1 rib

Change to 4mm needles 

Row 1 : knit

Row 2: purl 

Row 3:  * P1, y f d, s1 purlways,  knit into back of next stitch, repeat from  *  to  last 2 stitches, purl 2

Row 4: As row 2

Repeat 4 row pattern 5 times more

Change to 3.75 needles
Knit 3 rows in k1, p1, rib

Cast off in rib

Sew side seam for 5 cm leaving a gap for thumb of 4cm then join rest of seam
