Fingers and Thumb Fingerless Mittens

Size small: to fit 3-5 year old

Circumference 13 cm

 approx 12 cm from wrist

About 20 gms Dk yarn 

3.75 and 4 mm needles

Using  3.75 needles cast on 29 stitches

Knit 5 rows in k1, p1 rib

Change to 4mm needles 

Row 1: p1, *k1, p1, rep from * to end

Row 2: Knit to end

Repeat these 2 rows 10 times

Change to 3.75 needles

Knit 3 rows in k1, p1, rib

Cast off in rib

Sew side seam for 5 cm leaving a gap for thumb of 4cm then join rest of seam

Size and measurements

Small preemie – 20 cm circumference, 10 cm high
Preemie – 25 cm circumference, 14 cm 
 

About 15 grams of double knit yarn

Size 4 mm needles

Small preemie

Cast on 38 stitches

Knit 4 rows in garter stitch 

Row 1: p1, *k1, p1, rep from * to end

Row 2: Knit to end

Repeat these 2 rows for 10 cm

Next row: knit 2 tog to end row

Next row: knit 2 tog to last stitch, knit1

Cut yarn leaving a length to join seam

Thread through stitches, 

Join seam

Preemie 

Cast  on 50 stitches

Knit 4 rows in garter stitch 

Row 1: p1, *k1, p1, rep from * to end

Row 2: Knit to end

Repeat these 2 rows for 14 cm

Next row: knit 2 tog to end row

Next row: knit 2 tog to last stitch, knit1

Cut yarn leaving a length to join seam

Thread through stitches, 

Join seam
