4mm  needles

3..75 needles

With 3.75 needles

Cast on 72 stitches

Row 1: *knit 2, purl 2, to end 

Row 2: * knit 2, purl 2

Repeat last 2 rows twice

Change to 4mm needles

Next row: knit 2, *yfd knit 2 tog*  knit from * to last 2 stitches, knit 2

Next row: knit 2 purl to last 2 stitches, Knit 2

Next row: knit

Next row: knit

Repeat the last 4 rows until work measures 13cm  ending on the last row

Shape crown

Next row: *Knit 6, k2 together to end  (63 stitches)

Knit every alternative row:

Next row: *Knit 5, k2 together to end (54 stitches)

Next row: *Knit 4,  k2 together to end 45 stitches)

Next row: *Knit 3, k2 together to end (36 stitches)

Next row: *Knit 2, k2 together to end (27 stitches)

Next row: *Knit 1,  k2 together to end (18 stitches)

Knit 2 tog across row 

Cut the yarn long enough to thread through remaining stitches pull tight and secure. Sew seam to the garter stitch row at start of crown shaping for 8 cms.

Add ribbon ties
